Good Vibe #1: Mumbai painted pink with influx of flamingos
If there has been one common good-vibe theme during the coronavirus crisis, it’s that nature is thriving. The latest animals to take over a city are flamingos, which have migrated in record-breaking numbers to Mumbai, India. The Mumbai wetlands are no stranger to flamingos – the pink birds usually do flock here from November to May – however the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) has estimated that approximately 25 percent more flamingos have migrated to the region compared to last year. The result is an estimated 150,000 birds taking over parts of the metropolitan city, painting the skies and wetlands a striking pink. Read more about their migration, as well as some incredible imagery, via TIME.

Good Vibe #2: The 20-year-old student feeding the frontline
Pre-coronavirus crisis, 20-year-old Alex Dekker was just a regular guy. He was studying a double degree in International Relations and Science, majoring in Global Studies and Computer Science at Monash University, and enjoyed playing the cello and coding in his free time. That all changed, however, when COVID-19 hit. Alex was no longer able to go home to visit his parents – his father has a history of pneumonia and his mother is immunocompromised – and his sister suddenly became very busy, working as a doctor in the emergency department at Monash Medical Hospital. With his new-found free time and his sister as inspiration, Alex launched Alex Makes Meals, a charity that prepares, cooks and delivers free meals to frontline medical staff. In just six weeks, Alex has raised close to $70,000 via his GoFundMe campaign, which has translated to 8199 meals delivered to 11 hospitals so far. The service has already expanded from Victoria to also include New South Wales and Queensland, and the plan is for it to continue to grow and provide support to healthcare workers until the pandemic is over. Find out more and donate via the Alex Makes Meals website.

Good Vibe #3: The Polly Waffle makes a triumphant return
Who would have thought it would take a global pandemic to resurrect the beloved Polly Waffle chocolate bar? Alright, it’s not entirely because of the crisis – you may recall we wrote about the impending return of the iconic choc early last year. After Polly Waffle’s discontinuation in 2009, South Australian confectioner Robern Menz (the hero that brought back the Violet Crumble) took ownership of its brand, trademark and recipe from Nestlé with the intention to reintroduce it to shelves and stomachs – we just didn’t know when. Turns out, the time is now. Robern Menz has announced it is one of the grant recipients from the Commonwealth Manufacturing Modernisation Fund, which will support the production of the Polly Waffle here in Australia. The grant will allow the company to purchase vital equipment to produce the chocolate in Adelaide, as well as allow Robern Menz to create 38 new full-time jobs within the production line. While there is no definitive release date, the plan is to get that chocolate-coated marshmallow and wafer goodness back on shelves in late 2021. We’ll keep you posted.

Good Vibe #4: Dog takes over weatherman report from home
Us regular folk aren’t the only ones working from home during the coronavirus crisis – a number of talk-show hosts (such as Ellen and Jimmy Fallon), reporters and more are doing the same. In the US, while FOX 13’s meteorologist Paul Dellegatto was attempting to film his live daily weather report from his home office, his golden retriever Brody decided he wanted to be the star of the show. Firstly, Brody bumps the computer with his head, causing the on-screen weather graphics to disable. He then comes up to Paul for a good-boy pat, sitting on his lap as the weatherman tries his best to continue to deliver the report. Finally, Brody notices the cameraman filming from outside and bounds to the window, taking over the frame. To be honest, who cares about the weather when we’re all stuck inside anyway? We’ll take a pup crash instead any day. Watch the full video here.

Good Vibe #5: Matt and Alex are back to spice up your mornings (or evenings)
The iso rules are there ain’t no rules, which means you can eat your muesli at 8:00 pm and you can listen to your breakfast radio then, too. To help you ease into that bowl of crunchy, milky goodness (no matter what time of day), the nation’s favourite breakfast-radio team, Matt Okine and Alex Dyson, are back. The ex-triple j breakfast show hosts have reunited for Australia’s first on-demand breakfast show podcast, Matt & Alex – All Day Breakfast. The podcast, launched today, comes from Southern Cross Austereo’s PodcastOne Australia, the same crew that recently launched Tom Tilley-fronted The BriefingNew episodes will be released every weekday morning and the boys are excited to reconnect with their long-time listeners – especially those that aren’t early risers. We’re told to expect light-hearted news, interviews, talkback and Matt and Alex’s signature comedic banter. You can listen to new episodes of Matt & Alex – All Day Breakfast here.
