We mentioned before that certain eye-opening experiences have the power to affect change, which is exactly how HARA came about. After humble beginnings reselling vintage and second-hand clothing online in high school, Allie Cameron was spurred into to further sustainable fashion action while travelling through India. From the chemical runoff to the enormous amount of plastic use, Allie quickly realised that she wanted to do something tangible to reduce her impact on the earth. In November 2016, HARA was born to provide a sustainable and stylish alternative to the churned-out off-the-rack products Allie had seen in the past.
The HARA production ethos is wholly green and sustainable, with the brand teaming up with Environmental Justice Foundation to create an even better global impact. The stunning range of low and high-cut briefs and bras are all made from high-quality bamboo fabric, which is not only good for the planet but also extremely hygienic (what you want in a good pair of undies, to be honest). Natural dyes derived from plant leaves make up a stunning colour palette of charcoal, ivory, olive, pumpkin and pink throughout the whole range of products. Each piece is handcrafted in Bali, Indonesia by one of four tailors who work from the comfort of their own homes and receive a full range of working benefits.
