Fitness company RollerFit, which runs recreational roller-skating classes from various locations across the country (including Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast) had to sidestep away from its regular face-to-face sessions amid strict social-distancing restrictions, and quickly launched a timetable of live Instagram and Zoom classes for a range of different skill levels. Buoyed by the large number of new skaters joining in on their new online community, the RollerFit team went on to launch an online version of its Absolute Beginner Program, designed to help people learn to skate safely and confidently from the comfort of their own homes.
If you felt like a wobbling foal when you last put skates on, this is for you! The online program features four instructional videos to break down the fundamentals for you, which are accompanied by a 40-page PDF guide filled with all of the things a beginner needs to know, including moving forward (essential), stopping (also essential) and falling safely (aka stacking gracefully). The program has been put together by some of the best in the business, so you can expect very detailed instructions and explanations to make sure you really master the foundations of this thrilling new skill – you’ll be zooming up the street in no time!
Ready to roll? Gather your fun-seeking pals and sign up via the RollerFit website – they also have lots of cute skates and colourful apparel to deck yourself out in, too!
