Racecourse Road’s scored a spark in May 2023 with the anticipated opening of flame-fuelled restaurant and bar, Flaming & Co. Sitting pretty next to Kos Cafe, the 60-seater venue (which is the latest venture from the team behind Brisbane Phoenix) uses a stunning open woodfire grill to deliver a menu of modern-Australian eats flavoured with some with international influences. Seafood, meat and vegetables all feel the caress of flame, with stand-out options including salmon-belly croquettes crowned with house-made aioli, charred scallops with sage butter, burnt leek and trout roe, wagyu rump cap with grilled cabbage, duck leg with Dutch carrots and autumn grains and grilled coral trout with Aleppo pepper. These plates are served alongside a beverage menu encompassing wine from Australia and abroad, as well as cocktails, mixed drinks and beer. Boasting bar laneway and alfresco seating, Flaming & Co pairs its fiery centrepiece with an industrial-style aesthetic, complete with cooper, stainless steel and brick-red touches.
