After almost two years of inactivity, Fortitude Valley icon the Jubilee Hotel reopened to the public with a fresh new look. The team at TB’s Hotels has been busy putting pieces in place for The Jube’s dazzling multi-million-dollar revamp, which has coincided with the construction of Jubilee Place on the corner of Constance Street and St Pauls Terrace. A substantial reconstruction process kicked off in 2020 that has seen the 134-year-old two-level building’s heritage splendour and old-school charm preserved, while the pub’s amenities have been vastly improved and modernised. The ground-floor public bar has been spruced up and doubles as a sports and gaming bar, while out back sits a spacious and chic courtyard beer garden equipped with a new kitchen, live-music stage and a stadium-sized screen. A raised bistro area is where diners can snack on a menu of elevated pub-style fare, encompassing charcuterie, snacks, pizza, burgers, steaks and mains (all of which make great use of locally sourced ingredients), while beer lovers will be stoked to hear that an on-site microbrewery called Two Dogs – located inside its own nook called Brewers Lane – is concocting and pumping fresh ales to the venue’s plethora of taps. One of the Jubilee Hotel’s biggest areas of expansion is in its events and function capabilities. Six brand-new function spaces cater to an assortment of occasions, from exclusive parties and celebrations to business meetings and private dining. The Journo Room (a tribute to the journalists that would frequent the Jubilee in the past) is a boardroom-style seated dining room with room for 20, while Frankies Terrace (named in honour of Tony Burnett’s father Frank) is a chic second level space that is surrounded by transparent glass and boasts its own bar and an inside-outside terrace.
