For folks on the move, Zarraffa’s Coffee has long been a life saver in times of caffeine deprivation. The Queensland-based coffee company boasts countless locations across the state, but the brand’s $20-million HQ facility in Eagleby is now the home of a concept that takes the coffee experience above and beyond most Zarraffa’s Coffee locations. Kiwanda Cafe is the brainchild of Zaraffa’s founder Kenton Campbell, and is a cafe that specialises in home-style cafe fare, decadent treats, a welcoming atmosphere, and the best possible coffee available. This cafe is located in the heart of Zarraffa’s Eagleby roastery – a reclaimed commercial warehouse found off the M1. The venue is multi-zoned with an industrial aesthetic running throughout – a palette of natural wood, exposed metal and greenery is complemented by vaulted ceilings and an impressive fireplace in the centre of it all. Guests can peer curiously through a glass window into the coffee roastery itself before settling in for a sip of the good stuff. The kitchen produces a menu of eats made from fresh local ingredients, with sure-fire highlights including the Shed Bennie with char-grilled pork belly, house-made sweet waffles with pockets of caramelised sugar, fried-chicken burgers and seasonal green bowls, as well as freshly baked pastries and cakes for those with a smaller appetite. Kiwanda Cafe’s bar is where you’ll find all your coffee needs met – cold drip, nitro, and pour-over brewing methods are utilised, and those keen to get some beans to take home can nab a small batch roasted on-site in Kiwanda’s twin air roasters. Should you be seeking something with a different kind of kick, the bar also serves boutique beer and coffee-infused espresso martinis.
