Local musician-turned-cafe owner Keelan Bijker has turned his talents to the world of food, setting aside the drumsticks temporarily to open Two Donkeys. Two Donkeys took over the cafe attached to the Novotel on Astor Terrace in April 2016 after undergoing extensive renovations to overhaul the interior. The cafe serves a concise breakfast and lunch menu from Monday to Friday and pours Blackboard Coffee, making it the first Brisbane cafe totally dedicated to the Gold Coast-roasted beans. Patrons can enjoy breakfast bruschetta, sweet potato rostie with fired egg and pickled vegetables and French toast with a brioche sourced from Crust & Co, or come later in the day to sample the selection of bao buns on offer. Those seeking a tipple or two at lunch can sip on Cake Wines, beer from Newstead Brewing Co. as well as a forthcoming house brew made in partnership with Brews Brothers.
