Focus on today and make it the best it can be; don't focus on the future ...

In Short ...

The positive views and energy that vibrate from Sydney is what keeps designer Vince Frost inspired. Lured by the sunshine and lifestyle Australia holds, Vince needed a change of pace and moved his London studio Frost* Design to his current Surry Hills locale. From exhibitions to magazine and book design, corporate identities to environmental graphics, it seems Vince's diverse design toolbox can create a masterpiece of any opportunity that dashes into view. A go-to source for big ideas, global design company Frost* Design has created works for Donna Hay, Australia Post, Qantas and Sydney Dance Company locally. From humble beginnings as an art student screen-printing t-shirts by hand to sell on London's Kings Road, this graphic designer even finds time to collaborate with internationally lauded artists to produce a twice-yearly collection of graphic t-shirts. The Weekend Edition caught up with Vince before his appearance at Creative³ this week.

How do you like to start your weekend?
Frustratingly, I can never sleep in. I go for a run around 6:00–7:00 am and then pick up my kids from their mum’s house. This is usually followed by us all heading to North Sydney for my eldest son Lucas’ soccer game.

What’s your favourite thing to do on a Saturday morning?
Seeing the kids and grabbing breakfast somewhere cool.

How do you like to unwind?
Wine.

What are your essentials for a well-spent weekend?
A sunny day, the beach, the kids and my partner, Miya. Loads of laughter and no meetings.

What’s something you’ve been meaning to do on the weekend but haven’t got around to yet?
Sleep in.

What’s your favourite thing to do on a Sunday evening?
A picnic with friends and family in Centennial Park, with the kids playing while the sun goes down.

What are you looking forward to next weekend?
Spending a morning in Brisbane.

What are you reading at the moment?
Too many emails.

What inspires you?
My kids, opportunities, travel, every day.

What was your childhood dream?
To travel the world and live in New York.

What has been your greatest achievement?
Finding my soul mate and true love.

What is success to you?
Happy, busy days, chill-out time with my partner and laughter with my kids.

What are your words of wisdom?
Focus on today and make it the best it can be; don’t focus on the future.

Only a local would know … It’s a secret!

FAVOURITE WEEKEND SPOT TO:
Perk up …
Centennial Park early in the morning, running a couple laps with my kids joining me on their bikes.
Relax … On my couch with music playing, the windows open, drifting in and out of sleep until my son Louie dive bombs on me.
Dine …  Bar H on Foster Street, Surry Hills. This cosy haunt of mine is next door to our studio, but that’s not why it’s good. Hamish’s food is fantastic and the atmosphere is warm and addictive.
Indulge … Bells of Killcare – I have spent one weekend there with my partner recently and it was great. Great food and great accommodation.
Shop …
G Star and Harris Farms.
Catch-up … Bills on Queen Street, Woollahra.
Be inspired … Virtually any day in Sydney when it is sunny is inspiring. It fills me with loads of energy and everything looks and feels better. We spend a lot of time taking my son Lucas to his soccer games. He plays for the AC Milan Academy and is brilliant. He inspires me with his team spirit, focus and skills. This has been amplified this weekend as indoor soccer has just started.
