It’s no secret that Brisbane is home to an abundance of established and emerging artists. This winter, MoB is letting you take a peek inside the studios of these artists with an engaging half-day event. Across six hours, MoB will be busing across Brisbane for a four-stop tour of the city’s local artistic landmarks.
The bus tour starts with a trip to still-life artist John Honeywill’s studio. As an artist of observation, John is best known for his hypnotically hyper-real paintings that capture everyday objects, from flowers to a piece of Turkish delight. The next stop will be lighting up the tour with a trip to the workshop of lead-light craftsman Julian Podmore. With a distinct art style, Julian is best known for his stained-glass window scapes of contemporary scenes – from The Who to flowers. If all this creativity has you hankering for lunch, savour a pit stop at Farmhouse Kedron and refuel with a two-course menu of seasonal flavours and fresh produce – all included in your tour ticket.
By the afternoon, the tour will be heading to Brunswick Street’s Jan Murphy Gallery. The gallery will be unlocking its stockroom for tour guests to explore as well as hosting a tour of its current exhibition. The last stop concludes the tour in The City, where local artist Karen Stone will be taking you on an exclusive tour of MoB’s current exhibition Rearranged: Art of the Flower.
The Inside the Artist’s Studio Bus Tour will be running Friday June 14, Friday July 19 and Saturday August 24 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Secure your spot here.
