Colour pop – how blue nail polish is helping to combat a global epidemic

Colour pop – how blue nail polish is helping to combat a global epidemic

Anyone who is fond of statement pieces or accessories knows that even the smallest details can start a conversation. Whether it’s a pair of earrings or some loud socks, sometimes the little things that make a look pop are the things that get people talking. The legends at the Polished Man movement have cottoned on to this notion and are harnessing the power of a point of difference to start a national conversation about violence against children – and the team at East 9th Brewing has jumped on board to spread the message.

Polished Man is an organisation born from the minds of YGAP, a not-for-profit who decided to create a targeted campaign that seeks to end violence against children on a global scale. Its premise is simple but powerful – those participating paint one fingernail blue to represent the one child who dies every five minutes due to violence, and that fingernail generates a conversation and donations to the cause. As well as painting their fingernails, the team from East 9th Brewing has also committed to colouring more than 100,000 of their iconic Doss Blockos brown-paper beer bags blue – so bars, clubs, restaurants and retailers will be helping to spread the word.

So where exactly does your donation to the Polished Man go? This isn’t just a band-aid solution or token gesture – all funds raised through this campaign are funnelled directly into trauma prevention programs for at-risk children or children who are suffering violence globally. The East 9th Brewing team plans to use the wide channels of Australia’s liquor and hospitality industry to spread the word, encourage conversation and generate donations to this amazing cause.

Keen to get involved? You can find out more about the campaign (including how you could win a trip to NYC for the Polished Man wrap party!) over at the official Doss Blockos donation page.
