We’re not sure if you’ve stepped outside lately, but it’s as hot as Hades right now. While such scorching temperatures would typically have us scuttling for air-conditioned comfort, we’re instead choosing to embrace the balmy vibes of summer and cool off at e’cco bistro’s smart outdoor extension, The Terrace. This open-plan arrival offers an uncomplicated and comfortable spot to inhabit, with a small kitchen area and bar offering all you need to sip and snack in style. Philip Johnson and head chef Gert Pretorius are zigging from e’cco bistro’s European-inspired zag, opting for a menu of South-East Asian eats with a complementary cocktail list to boot.
The culinary journey at The Terrace by e’cco begins with raw oysters and Glacier51 toothfish with yuzu ponzu, before progressing on to a cracking selection of snackable and sharable delights. Betel leaves with prawn and pomelo, chicken karaage milk buns, crispy-salmon salads, master stock pork ribs, and massaman coconut beef curry are some of the options available to you, but if you can’t decide, The Terrace’s ‘Feed Me’ set menus will take the guesswork out of your meal. No summer feast would be complete without some cocktails to quench thirsts, and The Terrace’s concoctions will help take the edge off any heat wave. Drinks such as the Happy Endings (gin with pampelle and pineapple), Beijing Bellini (lychee liqueur and prosecco) and Sleeping Tiger (vodka, elderflower, mandarin and lemon) will go down a treat, but a substantial range of beer, wine and spirits (even sake) is also worth investigating.
Enough sweating over the details – The Terrace by e’cco is open now. The Stumble Guide has contact details and opening hours.
