Wellness’ recent love affair with self-care looks like it’s definitely here to stay, as luxe experiences like steams, soaks and saunas become new-found staples in people’s health routines. The new luxury wellness destination The Bathhouse will now let Brisbane renew and reset amidst an abundance of pristine travertine stone – inspired by the European bathhouses of another time.
The Bathhouse was founded by James Walsh, a seasoned long-distance and ultra-marathon runner whose rigorous lifestyle unlocked the power of wellness. “I’ve had the opportunity to run ultra-marathons all over the world and the privilege of experiencing some of the world’s most well-regarded and award-winning wellness and recovery centres,” said James.
These experiences made him aware of a gap within the Australian market for truly premium wellness destinations. “Our aim is to transcend the standard of service and experience available in the Australian market,” he shares. “We want to create a space where our guests can re-energise and restore, as part of a balanced lifestyle in an unmatched setting.”
A session at The Bathhouse lets you explore its curated amenities, such as a heated vitality pool, 12-degree cold pool, Finnish sauna with fireplace, float room, two infrared saunas, a guests’ relaxation lounge and a clutch of more wellness treatment spaces. Designed by the award-winning architects Hogg & Lamb, you’ll likely recognise the craftsmanship of this wellness haven from its previous work at Brisbane City’s Babylon and James St’s Gemelli restaurants. Expect expansive ceilings, atmospheric lighting and the experience of total solitude and privacy with its intimate session sizes.
You can enjoy The Bathhouse casually, or as a member, with individual sessions as well as annual memberships available. Guests will get to revel in elegant fragrances, meditative sounds, unlimited cotton towels, and a phone-free environment.
