Snoop Dogg’s cookbook and DJ Khaled’s furniture line
In order to go from hip-hop superstar to bona fide mogul, one has to diversify. That fact isn’t lost on two of music’s biggest names, as Snoop Dogg and DJ Khaled both recently announced some lucrative side projects. Snoop will be releasing his first cookbook, From Crook to Cook: Platinum Recipes from Tha Boss Dogg’s Kitchen in October, featuring 50 recipes that include the likes of lobster thermidor, baked mac and cheese and even a Snoop-themed gin and juice recipe. On the flip-side, DJ Khaled is getting into homewares, with a luxury furniture line called We The Best Home offering up some truly astounding pieces. From the Kingdom of Khaled throne chair and the King Onyx bed to the Calabasas Glam crocodile vanity and the Major Key bar table, there are plenty of pieces to help you live the luxury lifestyle just like DJ Khaled. Bless up!

Coat the Label
Yes, we know winter is over and so is the time for coats. That doesn’t mean our furry pals don’t still desire a fashionable outer layer. Whippets are some of the most beautiful pooches around, but we constantly see them in a state of shivering discomfort. It’s not their fault they’re all skin and bone, but thankfully Coat the Label has got these pups covered. Coat has released a collection of minimalist garments in neutral tones reminiscent of a chic turtleneck. These Merino-wool items regulate temperature and are designed to breathe with the body, catering to small, medium and large whippets, with more items to be released for the sighthound family.

It was the setting for some of the most iconic moments in Star Wars cinematic history – Han Solo versus Greedo, the first time a lightsaber is used on screen and that iconic music. The Mos Eisley Cantina is an iconic part of the Star Wars mythology, so it only makes sense that Disneyland’s Star Wars theme park would feature a cantina of its own. Oga’s Cantina will be coming to Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019, an establishment for roguish adventurers and Imperial soldiers alike. The bar will sell cocktails made using ‘otherworldly’ methods, and will be the first spot in Disneyland to sell alcohol to the public. If you’re a fan of everything Star Wars, this is the bar you’re looking for.

CJ Hendry’s portrait series
Although modern artistic practice continues to forge new creative pathways and reinvent established norms, it’s refreshing to see artists pay homage to what has come before. CJ Hendry – an Australian artist known for hyper-detailed renderings of luxury objects – has turned her attention to the iconic Polaroid series taken by Andy Warhol. These seminal photographs captured celebrities during the 1960s through to the late 80s, and six of these Polaroids in particular feature in CJ Hendry’s latest works. Her first foray into drawing portraits with pencil, this mini-series includes detailed recreations of Warhol’s Polaroids of notable celebs such as Basquiat, Debbie Harry, Grace Jones, Mick Jagger and Muhammad Ali. Taking the series further, CJ is in turn drawing crumpled replicas of her own works, reminiscent of her earlier practice of drawing damaged luxury goods.

The snack round-up
To cap off another month of fun, we’re looking at some of the most appetising, confusing and downright bizarre food fusions and products out at the moment. Over in China, Oreo is causing a stir with its new hot chicken wing and wasabi-flavoured biccies. Meanwhile, San Francisco-based ice-creamery Humphrey Slocombe is hawking pints of ice-cream in a bunch of strange flavours. Blue Bottle Vietnamese coffee, Hong Kong milk tea, Yuzu cream and a boozy bourbon and corn flake mixture are getting ice-cream purists into a tizzy. Starbucks in South Korea is selling an avocado frappucino that comes with a white-chocolate pit, while a London restaurant was offering it’s own take on the KFC ‘Double Down’ burger called the ‘Double Drown’ throughout August. This dish features bacon, cheese and other deep-fried lobster sandwiched inside a lobster shell.
