This year’s top accolade of Vittoria Coffee Restaurant of the Year went to Melbourne’s Attica, with praise given to the decade-old restaurant for sharpening its already remarkable offering since its renovation this year. New Restaurant of the Year went to the highly praised Saint Peter in Sydney, and Daniel Puskas of Sydney’s sixpenny was named Citi Chef of the Year. Queensland represented in the national awards, with ARIA Brisbane’s 1000-wine strong list awarded Wine List of the Year.
Queensland was certainly not short on hats this year, with a number of Brisbane restaurants maintaining or earning the coveted acclaim. Brisbane City’s Urbane was amongst only six restaurants nationally to be awarded three hats, rubbing shoulders with New South Wales’ Quay and Sepia, and Victoria’s Attica, Brae and Minamishima. Esquire, ARIA, Gerard’s Bistro, GOMA Restaurant, Stokehouse Q and Noosa’s Wasabi were each awarded two hats. Twenty-eight Queensland restaurants received one hat, with Brisbane restaurants including Gauge, The Wolfe, 1889 Enoteca, OTTO and first-time hat awardee Madame Rouge. Gold Coast certainly got a look in too – head over to The Weekend Edition Gold Coast for details. For the full list of the 2018 Good Food Guide Award winners, head to the Good Food website.
