Attention all shoppers and night owls – James St Up Late is dishing out the details on its anticipated 12th edition, which is set to take place tonight, Thursday March 14. This the once-a-year event will see the glamorous promenade light up the night, with 90 businesses keeping their doors open later than normal to offer unmissable shopping incentives, while visiting designers will be hosting activations at some of the strip's best boutiques. Oh, and there'll be 1000 covetable goodie bags up for grabs as well. Here's what's on the cards for James St Up Late's 2024 edition ...

Start planning your outfits, folks – James St Up Late, Brisbane’s most fashionable street party, is back once again. On Thursday March 14, 90 retailers will be extending their trading hours for three hours of designer appearances, creative activities, shop parties and one-night-only offers.

This year, aesthetes will be able to rub shoulders with the likes of Silk Laundry founder Katie Kolodinski (who will be appearing in-store all night), Parisian footwear designer Laurence Dacade (hosting a meet-and-greet at Maryon’s), while Heidi Middleton of online slow-fashion atelier ARTCLUB and bespoke jewellery, apparel and accessories maker Lucy Folk can be spotted The Calile as part of their Artists In Residence pop-up.

If you’re looking to completely overhaul your wardrobe or simply add a piece or two to your collection, James St Up Late’s retailer discounts are worth investigating. The likes of Dion Lee, MCM House, Bec + Bridge, Assembly Label, By Baby, Samantha Ogilvie, St. Agni and Zimmermann will be offering a range discounts, while retailers like Jardan, Mecca Cosmetica and Venroy will be distributing gifts with purchases.

The first 1000 James St Up Late punters to make a minimum $50 purchase will score a goodie bag. This year, the stylish tote will be filled with a glycolic body scrub from frank bod, a duo pack of Silk Skinny Scrunchies from Slip, coffee beans from Allpress Espresso, a triple-choc cookie from Byron Bay Cookies and much more. Also – in case you need more encouragement to get in early – James St Florist will be gifting complimentary night blooms to the first 100 shoppers.

James Street’s food and drink destinations will be getting in on the action, too. Lobby Bar at The Calile will be running a snack stop dispensing home-made jelly cubes and mocktails, At Sixes and Sevens will be plating up A Taste of Cru tasting plate for two while its sibling venue Cru Bar undergoes renovations, Gerard’s Bar is hosting a Lebanese pizza party, LOS will be shaking up a one-night-only margarita special, and The Nixon Room will be serving $5 snacks.

James St Up Late will be running between 5:00–8:00 pm on Thursday March 14. Head to the James St Up Late website for details on discounts, info on guest appearances, food and drink specials, competitions and a peek inside this year’s goodie bag.
