Take in free tunes across ten venues for this year’s massive Mountain Goat Valley Crawl

February tends to be a pretty snoozy month for a lot of us – it’s really hot, we’re mostly broke and we’re feeling particularly guilty about our abandoned New Year’s resolutions. The shining beacon in this oft-forgotten month is the Mountain Goat Valley Crawl, Brisbane’s premier free music festival spreading sonic goodness across some of Fortitude Valley’s finest live music venues. Returning bigger and better than ever on Saturday February 16, the choose-your-own-adventure festival is bringing a bevy of talent to our backyard.

We weren’t joking when we said the Mountain Goat Valley Crawl was going large this year – no strangers to expansion and growth, organisers have upped the ante to include a whopping ten venues. Joining original venues The FoundryBlack Bear Lodgethe zoo, Barbara, The Flying Cock, Crowbar and The Brightside are brand-new players Sabotage Social, Blute’s Bar and Greaser, collectively hosting a very impressive 51 acts over the course of the night. The ambitious bill is a carefully curated blend of artists from all around the country with one thing in common – a killer live show.

The Mountain Goat Valley Crawl’s line-up is truly chockers with fresh sounds – from Newcastle heroes RAAVE TAPES through to Melbourne’s swoon-worthy IV League and local dreamy electro-babe San Mei, there is something to suit every niche. The diversity of venues lends itself well to the acts on offer – after all, where else would you be able to see Mosquito Coast and Being Jane Lane in the same night (for free and within a block of each other, to boot)? It’s not just the musical talent that will have you frothing – the Crawl has also partnered with local legends like 4ZZZ, Phoebe Paradise and Sonic Sherpa to activate a number of its spaces.

As always, the Mountain Goat Valley Crawl is a free-entry affair – you can plot out your musical journey for the night with this timetable.
