We could all do with a helping hand from food goddess Nigella Lawson. After upgrading our cooking skills with her divine recipes and cooking shows, the talented Brit is now turning her attention to our food snaps.

There’s nothing quite like discontent to spur a new creation – and that’s exactly what motivated Nigella Lawson to launch her new food photography app, Foodim. After spending a good portion of her adult life snapping her culinary creations, the English food writer and cooking show host found herself consistently frustrated that there was no dedicated food photography app, instead having to rely on generic filters and editing features that didn’t do her dishes justice. So she began working with her longtime cameraman to create an alternative for those of us who have the habit of snapping our meals before consuming them.

The result is Foodim, a free mobile food photography app and dedicated social network. Its built-in filter is designed to optimise your camera for food shots and allows you to add background blur and depth of field with a simple tilt of your phone or swipe of a finger. Advanced editing tools include contrast, colour and temperature tweaks. Save your photo as a draft so you can post it after eating, add a caption, recipe, note and location, and share it with your followers in the Foodim community, who can follow, like and comment on posts. If you’re particularly chuffed with your work, you can also share it on other networks such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. The app is currently compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch with iOS 9.0 or later, although plans are in the works to make it available on Android soon. Download Foodim from the app store.
