The round-up: stomach stuffers over stocking stuffers – where to eat on Christmas Day

Do you hear that? It's the sound of Christmas carols echoing through shopping centres and over workplace radios. Whether you're ready or not, Christmas is coming – it's time to make sure you're prepared. The Christmas Day celebration is one of the most joyous and frustrating aspects of the festive season. In addition to dealing with cantankerous in-laws, gift wrapping and ensuring cookies are laid out for Santa, you've got a whole meal to prepare. Well, what if you let someone else take care of the cooking this year? Christmas is all about enjoying yourself, so leave the meal prep and cooking up to the experts and relax this year. We’ve decided to give you your gift early in the form of this list of spots to chow down on Christmas Day, so now all you have to do is sort out your own present shopping (you should really get on that, we're expecting something good).

Gambaro, Petrie Terrace: After a night delivering presents around the world, it’s only fair that Santa enjoys a little break on Christmas Day too. We’ve heard he’s chosen Gambaro as his spot to unwind, making the Petrie Terrace restaurant a great place to celebrate on Christmas Day. Enjoy a sumptuous four-course sit-down lunch and three-hour beverage package, while Santa dishes out gifts for the kids and carollers fill the space with festive song. Check out the menu and make a booking here.

At night, enjoy a relaxed dinner of dishes from Vintaged Bar + Grill’s a la carte menu. Details on festive lunches can be found here.

Bacchus, South Bank: Let someone else take care of the festive cooking this year at Bacchus’ Christmas Day dinner.
