If we had to draw a comparison, Sensory is pretty much like a Choose Your Own Adventure for grown-ups – audiences are invited to move through the spaces and exhibitions of GOMA while surprise vocal and dance performances unfold around them. Visual and musical splendours will combine as the multiple pathways through the Sensory landscape turn up surprises around every corner. At the halfway point, guests get to indulge another of the senses – fine wines and canapes will be served while everyone gets a chance to mingle and share their experiences before embarking on the next phase of the Sensory adventure.
Seeing as the whole evening is about uniting the senses, the program has been vigilantly curated to blend seamlessly with GOMA’s immersive works. The music and dance performances have been linked with visual art to create a psychological resonance, meaning you appreciate each element that much more. The evening’s cast includes acclaimed violinist Brendan Joyce and soprano Sarah Crane, a favourite in the Brisbane opera scene. Expect stunning musical highlights in the form of Strauss’ haunting ‘Die Nacht’ with award-winning pianist Alex Raineri accompanying Sarah’s vocals, plus Brendan’s jaw-dropping solo performances of ‘Méditation’ from Massenet’s opera Thaïs. Adding another layer will be live performers from Expressions Dance Company, accompanying the sublime musical offering.
If you are ready to treat yourself to an evening of seriously good vibrations, you can pick up tickets to Sensory through QTIX.
